What if Lord Zedd was actually Zordon’s former partner?

There is an old fan theory (and comic book lore) that Zedd was once a guardian of the light who was corrupted by his own ambition. If the show had made this canon, the war between Zedd and Zordon would have been deeply personal—a battle between two gods who once called each other brothers. Every time Zedd sent a monster, it wouldn’t just be an attack on Earth; it would be a taunt to Zordon about his “failed” philosophy of peace.

This would have made the Rangers feel like pawns in a much older, darker game. The show’s tone would have shifted from “monsters of the week” to a grand tragedy. When Zordon was eventually “sacrificed” at the end of In Space, it wouldn’t have just been a tactical move to save the galaxy; it would have been the final, heartbreaking reconciliation between two friends, with the Z-Wave acting as a literal “cleansing” of Zedd’s original, noble soul.
