In the show, Alex “died” but was later revealed to be alive in the future. If his death had been permanent, Jen (the Pink Ranger) would have been a leader driven by pure, unadulterated grief and vengeance. Her relationship with Wes (Alex’s ancestor) would have been much more haunted; she wouldn’t be looking at Wes as his own man, but as a ghost of the man she lost.
This would have made the Time Force finale incredibly dark. Jen might have been tempted to let Ransik die or to change history to bring Alex back, risking the destruction of the timeline. The “redemption” of Ransik would have been much harder to earn, as the victim of his greatest crime wouldn’t be there to forgive him. The season would have been a masterpiece of psychological drama, focusing on whether a hero can truly move past a tragedy that defines their existence.
