The Magna Defender’s entire motivation in Lost Galaxy was fueled by the death of his son. If Zika had lived, the Magna Defender would have been a protector rather than an avenger. He likely would have joined the Galaxy Rangers as a mentor figure much earlier, turning the team into a surrogate family. The “darker” elements of the season—where the Defender was willing to sacrifice the Rangers for his own goals—would be replaced by a story about fatherhood and legacy.
This would have changed the climax of the season significantly. Instead of the Magna Defender sacrificing his life to save Terra Venture, he and Zika might have become the new guardians of Mirinoi. The emotional stakes would have shifted from “loss” to “protection,” and the Galaxy Rangers would have had a constant reminder of what they were fighting for: the next generation of warriors.
