Power Rangers Turbo is often criticized for the inclusion of Justin, the child Blue Ranger. If the team had been composed entirely of adults (perhaps the veteran Zeo team staying together), the tone of the season would have been more like Fast & Furious meets Starship Troopers. The “race car” theme would have felt like high-stakes, high-speed tactical maneuvers rather than a toy-commercial gimmick.
This would have made the transition to the “New Blood” (T.J., Cassie, etc.) much more like a passing of the torch between seasoned professionals. The departure of the veteran Rangers wouldn’t have felt like a graduation, but like a retirement from active duty. The season’s villain, Divatox, would have had to be much more menacing to pose a threat to such an experienced team, likely resulting in a more gritty, action-heavy series that bridged the gap between Zeo and In Space with more maturity.
