Eric Myers was the ultimate “lone wolf” who hated the “silver spoon” Rangers. If Wes had managed to convince him to join the team shortly after he got the Quantum Morpher, the power dynamic in Silver Hills would have changed. The Silver Guardians would have become a direct military arm of the Power Rangers, giving the team unlimited resources and high-tech backup that they lacked as fugitives from the future.
The rivalry between Wes and Eric would have turned into a “buddy cop” dynamic, where they pushed each other to be better. However, this might have made the Rangers too powerful. Ransik would have been forced to release even more dangerous mutants to compensate, leading to a much more destructive “urban warfare” style of season. The Q-Rex would have been used in every fight, potentially causing the “time bleeds” that the Rangers were trying to prevent much earlier in the story.
